Excepting February, Which Has But 28

Days, that is. I can't believe they've gone so quickly!

Flipping through this issue of Backstage, I'm getting excited about summer. Summerstock, picnics, al fresco - so many of my favorite things. One of my roommates just got cast in a Broadway show (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) and another got an amazing contract at Goodspeed. This month I got to participate in the Strawhat Auditions and catch up on the Oscar movies. Still haven't seen The Social Network though. I know. Fail. In my defense, though, I WILL be attending a hopping martini+oscars party this Sunday. Can't wait. AND we got our lease renewed at STABILIZED RENT. Guys, this is gonna happen.

For Valentine's Day, I - and many actors I know - celebrated our true love for this crazy career we're pursuing by toasting the little breaks. You know how people always talk about their big break? Well, we're celebrating this little ones right now - the building blocks of a Big Break. Student Film here, off-off-Broadway there, a dash of sketch comedy, a music video spoof, writing a screenplay with other art school alums....this is the stuff dreams are made of. I want to encourage all my fellow artists out there to keep slugging. Our Big Break isn't just one moment in time, it's a culmination and combination of how we conduct our business along the way.

The Improv 101 class at Upright Citizens Brigade was a smashing success. We played to an audience of 12 and had a riotous good time. There is talk of a practice group and world fame in the near-future. I've also had opportunities to continue attending and working at The Actors Studio, and learn something new every time. As a side note: this week I am THRILLED to be doing scene-work with one of my childhood idols...more on that to come.
